Design and Simulation of Aerosol Inlet System for Particulate Matter with a Wide Size Range

A novel aerodynamic lens-based inlet system was developed for a wide particle size range, and it could extend the range of transmitted particulate matter (PM) to 50 nm–10 ?m. The lens adopted seven-stage focusing orifice PM, relaxation with virtual impact function introduced at front lens. Through innovative design, concentrate input samples as well effectively enhance effect on large PM. Furthermore, an additional pre-focusing innovatively added sampling traditional lens, pre-focus PM into axis region before entered small then solve previous problem loss Fluid simulations indicated that achieve 100% effective transmission in 0.18–10 characterization verification results obtained from improved single-particle aerosol mass spectrometer (SPAMS) were remarkably consistent theoretical values. practical tests bioaerosol particles up 10 ?m be detected. Compared observation same type performance this has better advantages efficiency therefore, broad application prospects research, single-cell analysis, etc.
